After a 13-year hiatus, baseball is back to the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. While the MLB does not allow players to participate in games, the tournament will be an exciting one for prospective future MLB players to watch. The six national teams will be divided into two groups of three, then each team will play in the round of 16, the two group winners will advance to the second round, while the remaining teams will face each other according to the standings until the losers of these matches are eliminated.

Then the remaining rounds are double elimination where winners and losers compete until the gold medal contest. FanDuel punters have established odds as to which team is most likely to win Olympic gold in baseball.

Host nation Japan are the favorites, but the US and Mexican teams will have a say in who wins the top prize in Tokyo. Below are the odds for the men’s Olympic baseball competition.

The host country has a long tradition of baseball. Japan will draw on their local talents such as former Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka. Tetsuto Yamada is considered one of the best hitters in the Japanese league and could lead the team to glory.

United States Team (+290)

The 2008 gold medalists are still in the top three 13 years later. South Korea has been the best baseball nation in Asia for the past few years and although they don’t have their MLB crop they still have a team talented enough to win a medal.

Mexico (+900)
