Goldstream Food Bank got an extra helping hand on December 15 with a new Youth Baseball Club in Victoria.
Two players and a coach from the Victoria Breakers Youth Baseball Club volunteered to help assemble and distribute baskets to those in need during one of the busiest times of the year for food banks.
Club spokesperson Sherry Caven said helping the community is part of the club’s mission and, as they were only established in September, it was their first service activity.
âWe want to do a lot of community service or fundraising projects to help and promote team building,â she said.
On the baseball side of things, players between the ages of 13 and 17 are developing their skills and receiving off-season advice to help them decide where they want to play once the new season begins. Players of all skill and experience levels are welcome to register from anywhere in Greater Victoria. For more information, visit breakersbaseballclub.com.
